5-mile stroll away. Take a tour of the town and book tickets to see a play in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre or the adjacent Swan Theatre on the banks of the River Avon. Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, where Shakespeare’s wife lived as a child, is 2 miles away and well worth visiting. Mary Arden’s Farm, the childhood home of Shakespeare’s mother, is 4 miles out of town in Wilmcote.
